Our August Featured Jam maker isn’t primarily a jam maker. Loaf is first and foremost an artisan bakery, focused on naturally fermented hearth-baked breads and seasonal pastries. Located in a historic building in downtown Durham, Loaf’s storefront has the cozy, idyllic charm of a European boulangerie. Natural light pours through the windows and highlights the small, carefully stocked pastry cases and shelves packed with the day’s breads. The old-world sensibility carries over to its baked goods, which are made using traditional methods with exceptional local and seasonal ingredients.
Tired of his stressful job as a researcher, Ron Graff founded Loaf in 2007 as a way to pursue his passion for bread. For the first four years, Loaf sold exclusively at farmers’ markets before opening the brick and mortar location in 2011. No ingredient or detail at Loaf is an afterthought, especially their house-made jams, which are direct reflections of the local fruit grown here in the NC Piedmont. Fortunately for us, this has been a good year for peaches, and Loaf has honored the harvest with a batch of exquisite Peach Amaretto Jam, available exclusively in our web shop.
Made with peaches, sugar, lemon, and a touch of amaretto, this golden-hued jam offers vibrant flavors of ripe peach, tart lemon, and sweet almond with a silky, delicate texture. It’s equally brilliant straight out of the jar (we won’t tell if you won’t) or paired with our Almond Coconut butter on top of a crusty piece of toast.
