Nancy and Walter Warner have a knack for the unexpected. Their Stowe, VT-based jam business, Potlicker Kitchen, first gained notoriety for their beer jellies. After canning all the fruits and veggies she had in sight, Nancy turned to the cupboard for something to make, and inspiration struck. Why not take that beer and turn it into a jam? The results spoke for themselves, and in 2011 she began selling her wares. Shortly thereafter, she began to receive national attention via awards and media.
But Nancy’s creativity isn’t limited to alcohol-based treats. She also offers an assortment of unique, fruit-based jams handmade by her small team. We especially love their Pear Ginger Jam and are so excited to offer it as this month’s Featured Jam. Spicy, floral ginger is the perfect foil to delicate pear. The resulting jam is light, sweet, and with just the right amount of zing to brighten up your breakfast or anytime repast. We especially love it paired with our Peanut Pecan on top of fresh-baked banana bread.
