I doubt whether the world holds for anyone a more soul-stirring surprise than the first adventure with ice-cream. – Heywood Broun
Oberweis Dairy is more than just your average dairy farm. The company has a rich heritage that has lasted for four generations and counting. It began in 1927 when dairy farmer Peter Oberweis sold extra milk to neighbors from the back of a horse-drawn wagon. Peter founded Oberweis Dairy a few years later, and the business has remained in the family ever since. In 1951 Peter’s son Joe perfected a process and recipe for creating super-premium ice cream and opened the first Oberweis ice cream shop in Aurora, Illinois. To date, there are 41 Oberweis ice cream shop locations, all featuring ice cream made using Joe’s original method.
As they’ve grown, Oberweis has remained committed to providing superior quality and great tasting products. All of their farmers sign the Farmer’s Pledge, promising to “do nothing different than if our children and families were drinking all of the milk we produce.” The pledge also ensures the humane treatment of their cows, and that all Oberweis products are free of artificial growth hormones and antibiotics.
In addition to their iconic ice cream shops, Oberweis offers a delivery service that brings their dairy products to homes all over the Midwest and on the Eastern Seaboard. They also offer a selection of breakfast foods, snacks, meats, and beverages from both their own brand and others. We are so excited that our handcrafted nut butters are now available to their home delivery customers! Who else is ready for ice cream?
