“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.” ―
If the old adage that you eat with your eyes first is true, then On the Rise Bakery in York, SC, is a feast to behold (don’t just take our word for it – see for yourself on Instagram). Terri Kreger founded the small bakery with business partner Cathy Chase in 2015 after two years of selling her homemade breads and baked goods at local farmers markets. The community embraced the shop and they’ve thrived ever since.
The secret to their success: premium ingredients, traditional baking methods, and great service. Kreger insists on using local eggs, organic milk, real butter, unbleached non-GMO flour, and absolutely nothing artificial or commercially processed. She and her small team arrive long before sunrise and begin baking the day’s breads and pastries, including sourdough loafs, cinnamon rolls, scones, danishes, cupcakes, and special-order cakes.
To accompany their baked goods, they offer a selection of house made grab-and-go items like chicken salad, summer bean dip, and pimento cheese. They also feature a small collection of SC and NC-made pantry items, including small-batch jams and our handmade nut butters. On occasion, you can even find our Peanut Butter featured in one of their specialty treats like cupcakes with peanut butter icing (pictured) or PB&J turnovers. We are so proud to be on their shelves (and in their beautiful and delicious baked goods)!
